Hello everyone my name is Makayla Thomson! I am a third year student here at Thompson rivers university,  I am in the bachelors of arts program with a concentration in archaeology, with hope of becoming an underwater archeologist. I am originally from southern Ontario, and moved to this lovely city 3 years ago. Growing up I have always had love for the ocean/exploring the underwater world, and learning about history so when it came to deciding what I want to do for my future career underwater archeology was the perfect balance of both. Throughout my time here at TRU I have taken many classes that involve journalism components, for example photography and graphic design classes, after doing these classes I have found a new love for capturing moments on film. That’s why I have decided to take this class, and bring my love for capturing moments to life through a multimedia story.

Destiny Coughtrey – 1st year student

Hello, my name is Destiny Coughtrey. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Arts with the intention of majoring in Theatre and Journalism. I have a passion for writing and acting, so I hope to have the chance to pursue both in the future. in my free time, I like to draw comics and write in the word bubbles, and I hope to continue to do those things. I have always listened to the radio and enjoy reading news articles. Growing up listening to B100 and CFJC Today with Rich Woods and Cheryl Blackwell, it has helped me spark my interest in journalism, and when I found out that they had a major in Journalism, it made me think that maybe that was something I wanted to potentially pursue in university. also, learning that Cheryl went to the same high school as my grandma, I thought that having connections with them was so cool, that’s what inspired me to go into this course!
